It has been known for a long time that sugary drinks aren’t great for our health, but in a recent report it shows that it can be a significant factor in increasing the risk of developing high blood pressure.
In three large, prospective studies of healthcare professionals, drinking at least one sweetened beverage a day was associated with a 6 percent to 20 percent greater relative risk of receiving a hypertension diagnosis from a doctor.
The report showed that by even drinking one sweetened drink each day can increase the risk. Many people consume far more than that. It’s not just sugar; it would appear that even artificially sweetened drinks hold the same risk, and possibly more so.
