Congratulations to Leigh Milne, who qualified this week as a Certified Hypnotension Practitioner
Leigh will be serving clients with high blood pressure (Hypertension) from her practice in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
Leigh is the first Certified Hypnotension Practitioner in Australia, so many congratulations to her!
Kalgoorlie is a mining town in a dry and arid part of Australia, close to the Australian desert, and in the heart of Australia’s mining industry. Australia’s current mining boom has resulted in a shortage of skilled manpower and so the area has seen a large influx of skilled workers from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
With hundreds of mines located in isolated areas within a 600km radius, and even more up North, there is a predominance of 12hr shifts, with miners flying in for 2-4 weeks, then flying home for a week.
Workers are housed in temporary camps with the choice of going to the gym, drinking at the mess or isolating themselves in a tiny room between shifts.
Leigh says, “Clients come to me suffering stress and anxiety, insomnia, smoking, alcohol, weight and drug problems, in addition to the emotional strain of being separated from their loved ones back home. The resident population are also dealing with those issues as Kalgoorlie is under pressure to service the minesites in the vicinity.”
“The beauty of the hypnotension course is it adds effective tools to my tool box to address a wide variety of issues that would not be otherwise addressed in the client if they were to a attend a standard medical appointment or counselling session.”
The Hypnotension™ Programme looks at a variety of lifestyle factors to establish which is likely to be causing or maintaining high blood pressure (Hypertension). These lifestyle factors are then targeted using specific cognitive and hypnotherapeutic techniques to help reduce the clients blood pressure towards more normal levels.
